Housed in an eclectic architectural design building, New York Pizza is located at 708 Hardy Road in Vinton, Virginia. Many who have never been to New York City consider it the best pizza place in the area. I have not only lived many years in Boston, Massachusetts, a place where it's known to have one of the best New York Italian Style Pizzas in the world in its Little Italy neighborhood, but also have visited New York City itself many times and have had the privilege of having the original New York Italian Style Pizza many times and consider it the best of all Pizzas. So I definitely had to visit this Pizzeria with a friend, to see for myself if all the hype about this place was true. When we arrived I was very impressed with the outside of the building, and as we walked in, the use of red bricks in its interior design created a relaxed and friendly environment, very appropriate for enjoying a slice of pizza. I have also been to Rome, Italy, and know how it's part of the Italian culture to relax with family and friends and share quality time dining and drinking with them. The welcoming and friendly staff at New York Pizza created this atmosphere which contributed to the enjoyment of eating the pizza and to the amazing dining experience of the place.. Besides the traditional New York Italian Style Pizzas, their menu also had other styles pizzas such a Sicilian and Napolitan, Italian Suff Pizzas, White Pizzas, as well as delicious Calzones, Italian Sausage Subs, and also Stromboli and Cannoli, as well as other Italian dishes that one could find at an Italian restaurant, at reasonable prices. We had a slice of the peperoni New York Italian Style Pizza and then one of the Italian Style Pizzas. We ordered at the counter where two friendly ladies took our orders and called us when ready. And they truly were amazing delicious. We were able to confirm that New York Pizza is the best Pizzeria in town carrying genuine New York Italian Style Pizzas and other Italian American cuisine items.
Pizza portions are big. Nothing extraordinary. The steak sandwich was amazing though.
This place is a large, older-looking building with a sign saying it was expanding into the next door building which would make it quite large. On a nice evening, I ordered to-go. They got me my pizza on schedule. This Sicilian pizza was colossal, filling a large pizza box corner to corner. It had significant heft. Ordering peppers and mushrooms got me preserved versions of both; I prefer fresh vegetables but the ones here did not overwhelm the taste of the pizza and delivered some helpful contrasting textures. For the price, I'll end up getting something close to four meals, which is quite good. Ordering a basic salad yielded iceberg lettuce, tomatoes, onions, and peppers, with a side of breadsticks. Darker lettuce varieties generally taste better and offer more nutritionally, but this salad served my needs. People whose special dietary needs preclude things like wheat and dairy are not going to find much here. Everyone else will find satisfying food.
Lived in Roanoke for 3 years, from New Orleans. Traveled all over for what I did before. New York pizza is the best pizza we had. So much flavor, the size is super big. The steak Stromboli is or favorite. We have not had anything we didn't like. The staff is always attentive and friendly. A definite must try.
Delicious, crispy yet still so soft. This pizza is that pizza that's still soft and not chewy even after cold. Definitely my favorite thus far. Now the cannoli today was not the freshest but overall it was delicious.
Ordered a large pizza half cheese half pepperoni and it was delicious. Thin crust, tasty sauce, perfect amount of cheese, it was just what we needed!!!
We had the calzone and it was delicious. Crust was perfect and the toppings generous. It was so much for both of us. Nice sauce and friendly service. We did wait a good half hour for the food to come when we dined in. Calzone 4.5/5 overall 5/5.
NY Pizza SLAPS. If you want delicious city style pizzas without the stomach ache and the best crust/sauce/topping ratios- you have to come here. Don't even get me started on the NY style cheesecake that has a crust crumble as opposed to a thick crust. It is so light and delicious. I'm not from this part of VA and this is one of my favorite pizzerias I've been to!
